The check-up is recommended for all relationships, regardless of their stage, providing a valuable opportunity for couples to proactively invest in their partnership's health and longevity.

A Safegaurd or Health Check has been traditionally offered to first responders but anyone can benefit form checking-in on their mental wellness. It typically involves discussing mental health in four the domains of wellness - physical, social, emotional, and spiritual wellness. A Safegaurd or Health Check has been traditionally offered to first responders but anyone can benefit form checking-in on their mental wellness. It typically involves discussing mental health in four the domains of wellness - physical, social, emotional, and spiritual wellness. We also discuss coping strategies, provide education on typical responses to stress or critical incidents, give validation, and discuss available resources. Psychometric tests may be used to evaluate and monitor symptoms, and a referral for therapy could be recommended if additional support is needed.

As a registered Psychologist, I bring a dedicated history and a deep-rooted passion for working with first responders and their families, as well as individuals and couples.

Having worked for Calgary Police for over a decade, I have specialized knowledge and experience with first responder working environments, operational and organizational stressors, trauma, and their unique relationship concerns, as well as the common responses to these stressors and the interventions used to treat symptoms of depression, anxiety, and PTSD.

Additionally, I am a sessional instructor at Mount Royal University within the Psychology faculty and am well versed in providing psychoeducation and various workshops.

I hold a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Psychology (Honours) from Mount Royal University, a Master of Science (MSc) in Counselling Psychology from the University of Calgary, and significant additional training in trauma, suicide intervention, wellness, and couples therapy.
